Low shot shows the reversible "Pay as you Enter" sign in the right front window. Motorman simply flipped the sign manually when "Pay as you Leave" was required. No fancy electronic signs, here. Everything was done by gnarled old hands of men who'd been on the job for years. Pay enter side was blue with white letters, pay leave, red with white. |
