The winching operation for alignment with the car trucks was a delicate and exacting process, with no margin for error. The king pins which had to be inserted were barely two inches in diameter mated with the trucks.



The interior of 2685 shows the original 1917 leather straps, plus the roof pole spring and the lifeguard. The rattan seat cushions were discarded and replaced with varnished wooden slat seating.

2685 is ready for the critical winching operation as workman smears oaken beam with grease.
